FIRST® LEGO® League Challenge season "DIVE" 2024/2025
The 2024/2025 FIRST® LEGO® League Challenge season, themed "DIVE", inspired students aged 9 to 16 from across Bulgaria to learn how and why people explore the seas and oceans, to identify, research and propose solutions to a related problem, to explore the role of technology and innovation, the ecological significance of the world's oceans for the planet, as well as to learn about different professions.
The final event of this season took place in April 2025 in Burgas and was organized by the Center for Creative Learning and the Municipality of Burgas. The FIRST® LEGO® League Challenge competition featured 28 teams from 18 locations, including a team from a Bulgarian school in Taraclia, Moldova, who demonstrated their engineering skills and creativity by designing and programming robots to perform various missions related to the oceans.
Team "Power Vortex" from Shumen won first place, impressing the jury with their innovative project and precise execution of the tasks. Thanks to the prize provided by the Municipality of Burgas, they represented Bulgaria at the Open International Championship in Greece in May 2025.
For all LEGO fans, we had prepared a special exhibition with models from BrickHunters and LEBGO, which also presented unique constructions dedicated to the ocean. Meanwhile, the scientific forum revealed the Bulgarian contribution to ocean research. Impressive documentaries were presented, which were shown to the public for the first time. Prof. Hristo Pimpirev opened the forum and shared his experience in Antarctic research. Scientists demonstrated modern technologies for marine research, such as the Argo probe, drones and underwater vehicles used for scientific and rescue missions.
The festival atmosphere reached its climax when, at sunset on April 12, the stage in front of the Congress Center turned into a real wave of songs and dances, presented by the young talents of Burgas. The audience also witnessed the live inclusion of diver Nayden Nedev, who took us through the depths of the Black Sea. The evening ended with a spectacular 3D mapping show by Elektrick Me, dedicated to the underwater world, LEGO and everyone who was part of the unforgettable event.
